Information for “Utz Snacks”

Information received in email from Utz Snacks regarding cheese & Enzymes:

”  Thank you for taking the time to write to us with a question about our snacks.  None of the enzymes used in the manufacturing of the cheese ingredients used in our seasonings are derived from animal sources, rather, they are all microbially derived.

Microbial enzymes are a cultured strain of bacteria that digest protein and are derived from the growth of pure cultures of certain molds.  Microbial enzymes are the same as those often referred to as vegetable enzymes or vegetable rennet and are often termed microbial rennets. These enzymes are neither animal nor vegetable. They are commonly used for the production of certain types of cheese and contain no animal products.
We work hard to manufacture high quality; delicious snacks and we hope this helps to answer some of your questions regarding our ingredients.  We appreciate your business and hope you remain a loyal Utz customer.  Have a great day!

Sincerely,
Rebecca
